Déjà vu florals

It's been a long time since I've updated my blog due to unfortunate events but I'm glad to submerse myself back into the blogging world with my ultra spring-ready outfit with flowers galore! Anything embellished with florals is my absolute favorite and I recently had a creative itch with Lynn and decided to go to Michaels to make some fab bows and I just had to buy some $3 flowers that I knew I could make into a crown. It's like déjà vu all over again!
DIY Flower crown, gifted crop top, Coach sandals, F21 Jacket, Kaitlyn shorts, F21 ring

Florals are a perennial favorite that will never cease to have a welcoming place in my heart. I adore how it can add such a whimsical touch to an otherwise drab look. So I knew that it was a given that I just had to wear my cropped floral top that was gifted with my DIY flower crown. Evelyn really needed to borrow my lacrosse stick so I had to drive all the way back home during the middle of 4th like a classic rebel and with 30 minutes to spare, I whipped out my DSLR that was progressively gathering dust when I saw the brilliantly blossomed flowers in my front yard.

My crimson red scalloped shorts reminded me of flower petals so it was only evident that I wear them. I coincidentally decided to wear my Coach poppy sandals due to the blazing weather and realized that I looked extremely patriotic especially with my denim jacket. Oh well! There's nothing wrong with showing a little american spirit now and then, right? (:

Tomorrow's going to be Toga day! It's this random tradition that our school does where we chant and wear inappropriately skimpy bedsheets so I'll be updating with photos soon :)
Have a beautiful day! xx

They had light inside their eyes

Given the circumstances, I haven't necessarily been in the mood to plaster a smile on my face and take pictures of my outfit today, so I decided to post a past outfit. I've been pushing my laptop away from me because of how overwhelmed with emotion I've been having to deal with lately. However, I decided to update my blog rather than completely abandon it for the sake of those who read my blog.
Wearing: Zara Ankle boots, H&M collared shirt, Cotton On skirt, F21 ring and earrings, Gifted Necklace, UO socks

Sorry for not updating my blog in such a long time. I tend to be incredibly inconsistent with my posts but lately, it's just been really difficult for me to connect with any sort of social media given the unfortunate circumstances my school has been facing due to a tragic loss of a beloved student. I normally dislike posting any negativity on my blog but I just felt it was wrong to simply brush off the issue and return to some form of normalcy like some of my teachers have done. It has been an overwhelmingly difficult time for me and for hundreds of students at school but all we can do now is stay strong as a community. Even smiling at others and creating stronger relationships with those around us makes a tremendous difference.

All my love to everyone,
Kelly

Trend Report: Mod World

TRENDS by sparklesfade featuring a print dressMarc by Marc Jacobs print dressmy-wardrobe.comPvc dressboohoo.comLace dressneedsupply.com

The 60s had a tremendous impression on designers galore that ranged from the ultra chic and edgy Chanel walkways to Moschino's intricately flamboyant apparel. The 60's evoked a prominent presence of simple shapes and silhouettes that featured glimmers of colorblocking. Color was most featured on the bodice with strong hues such as red, royal, and oranges. For a minimalist look, designers such as Marc Jacobs and D&G opted for jailbird or beetlejuice stripes that were ironically clean and refined with explosive pops of color.

Trompe-l'oeil looks played with textures and were harmonious with colorblocking while stripes were a key conversation throughout the spring runways. Optical illusions tricked the eye with a juxtaposition of positives and negatives, serving as a fresh take on the simple colors. Boxy tops and mod coats were synonymous with this period along with A-line shift dresses and mini skirts serving as key players. Think doe-eyed Twiggy or It Girl Edie Sedgwick! Most pieces were cropped (ie.cropped pants, cropped jackets..) and utterly perfect for the warmer climates.

As for colors, royal continues to be persevere throughout the seasons. Shades of pink ranging from blush to grapefruit add a flirty retro twist that's perfect for the overall ambiance of the season.
Accessories featured nude calfskin, metallic finishes, and perforated leather with a beautiful arrangement of prints. (Leather is here to stay!) Studs were featured in all shapes, particularly in the conventional pyramid shape. Geometric heels as well as gladiator sandals with cutouts and straps were showcased. Dual-tone of colors such as black and white were also presented.

I'm planning on featuring another trend next time! Hope you enjoyed it (:

WWD Magic Market Week Part 1

Hey there! So sorry for not being able to update my blog and reply to your heartwarming comments as frequently lately! I just got back from the Las Vegas Magic Market Week just last night and I've been swamped with a tremendous load of homework that is just way too much for me to bear. I've got a bad case of "senioritis". I ended up jampacking all the thrilling and eventful experiences that have come my way in one post. Enjoy! (:
Obviously by now it should be pretty apparent by all things dealing with flowers. I'm more spring-ready than ever and I couldn't resist not wearing my petite, ditsy floral headpiece after seeing countless hipsters stroll around with their crowns around the Vegas Convention Center.

Being the eccentric and melodramatic person that I am, I couldn't contain the excitement that I felt when setting eyes on the incandescent Topshop/Topman sign and starting screaming like a lunatic in the car. I was lackadaisically sinking in the backseat when a switch went off and I knew I just had to go in and happily left with some quality clothes!

(this is actually a picture inside the Caesar Palace Forum shops!)
After my Nordstrom Internship meeting ended, I decided to advantageously use my discount and old gift cards and purchased the diamond-studded skull bracelet and gold watch for only $2.98!
I would have loved to be able to take more pictures but there was a strict yet totally understandable rule not to take pictures of the product. Instead, I was able to snap some pics of the displays which were eye-catchingly innovative.

The overall ambiance of the entire Magic Market Week was compacted with an overwhelming yet highly intriguing energy. Being a high school student, it wasn't exactly evident that I would even be  acknowledged in the congested red carpet aisles of infinite exhibits that were meticulously ornamented with flamboyant signs and logos to attract wandering buyers. Fortunately, some companies were extremely welcoming in spite of my young age and my deficiency in holding an esteemed title of what I aspire to become: a buyer.
Companies were peacocking by arranging rotating neon lights, displaying boulder-sized bags only Lady Gaga would be caught dead in, and even splattering paint and pounds of glitter onto random bystanders as a means of artistic expression. As a high school student that gets excited only when a teacher is absent, it was a relief to experience some genuine enthusiasm.
On top of all the avant-garde displays, companies were altruistically passing out alluring catalogues and fabric bags with their enormous logos stamped on them like mothers passing out Halloween candy. I'm overall very pleased that I got to leave with a hefty pile of souvenirs I will cherish (:

In my next post, I will go over all the future trends, colors, and styles of 2013-2014 I discovered in seminars and the styles/trends that I repeatedly analyzed during Market Week! (:
